Furniture
Finally, the furniture arrived. I’ve been waiting for the stuff since I got here (on February 11th). To cut a long story short: The mover thought there was more to ship, and thus decided to keep my stuff stored until more would arrive. Which would never happen. Which I’ve told them. But anyway, after some calls, they finally sent out the shipment, and it arrived at Willemstad last week (the 5th).
That’s when the fun starts. Customs. They want paperwork, and lots of it. Luckily, CMS took care of all this, after I sent them a list of things with the associated value. Import duties, taxes, fees, all were calculated, and paid one day later. Only one problem remained. As there are more shipments in the same container, they have to file -all the paperwork together- to be able to open the damn thing up. There goes my hope of having it anytime soon, as the others apparently didn’t care too much and didn’t file any papers yet.
But, today I got a call from one of the CMS ladies, who told me my stuff was ready to be picked up. And so we (me and Anthony) did, with one of the vans. A little loading and unloading later, we now have a room full of cardboard boxes. Let the building/assembling/unpacking begin ;)
