Car & Soosh
Recently, my car was having some problems, making weird noises, in other words: time to get it serviced. As it’s a company car, I asked our receptionist to arrange / plan a checkup. Which she did, and asked me for the carkeys “to let the mechanic check and see what has to be done, in order to plan the work accordingly”. Naive as I was, I gave the keys last Tuesday, figuring I’d get them back somewhere that afternoon, like she said.
Unfortunately, she had agreed with the mechanic to start working on it right away, which meant I wouldn’t have a car for one or two days. Not that big of a problem, though somewhat sub-optimal ofcourse. I also informed her that I needed the thing back Thursday, as I took Friday off to pick up Soosh from the airport and do some fun stuff during the weekend. Anyway, some days went by, and the car would be back thursday. If not, I could borrow one of the vans we have for the weekend. All seemed fine and arranged. Until thursday afternoon, ofcourse, when we realized the car wasn’t finished yet. So, we went searching for the promised van-replacement. Which happened to be taken home with the on-duty technician. Add to that the fact that apparently I’m not allowed to drive the thing because I’m too young (something with insurance), and you can imagine one fun evening.
Renting a car is a little hard, because of the age issue. Luckily a colleague (Anthony) knew a guy that knew someone that used to rent cars. I’ve spent friday morning at the office, waiting for the car, and getting some stuff done, when the rental finally arrived. Quick shopping, cleaning and to the airport. And yay, Soosh got here alive and well \o/ !
