New network site, on top of some building that’s apparently going to be a school. Looks nice (our part, at least), but the rest is kind of a dump.

Yesterday we decided to watch some TV after having dinner at “De Tropen”. Yay for HBO, we watched “Miss Congeniality 2″, “Girl with a pearl earring” and “The Notebook” in a row ;) Great to have that sattelite TV working, though I still want my other setup to get installed..
Today it’s one year (and a day, actually) since my first visit to Curacao. It’s also exactly 6 months since I’ve started my ~1.5yr at the office here. Funny to look back on that, seeing the house like it is right now, and knowing that we’ve only arrived here with one suitcase filled with clothes..

Yesterday, we had some trouble with customers at the airport. They’re moving from one building to another, so I figured someone might have snapped some wires, or something else dead-obvious. Nothing like that, though, when we arrived. After visiting 2 customers, arriving at the third, I found the final hint (the DHCP server kept giving [...]
Today we drove around a bit, trying to get VoIP working properly on the lower-speed wireless units. The result was quite interesting, after some tweaking on the basestation, useragent and softswitch we managed to get a nice clear conversation across :) Too bad we only had a “small” pickup, which was filled with lots [...]
Time to “fix” our Navini setup.. We have a few engineers over to help us increase the performance, and figure out some weird quirks we had. Day 1 was promising enough, we managed to solve 4 things that were bothering us (read: the helpdesk) for a while now :)
And still 2 days to go !
Today, we went to the beach! And instead of burning alive, I actually survived. Now it’s time for some dinner, and hopefully making a nice post about the trip to Dallas last week :)
Especially since no-one at the office knew it was my birthday ;) So, just the normal things to do, and finally got lots of work done! Playing with some accesspoints turned out to be quite fun, as we’ve now turned them into hotspots, including authentication to our “billing” machine. Ofcourse, after we told some folks, [...]
Well, that was one long night. Started moving at around 10pm, and got back home at 5:30. Everything went pretty smooth, apart from one link. Too bad that link was (aparently) pretty important.. But, it got fixed this very morning, so now some bank in the Bahama’s can communicate again ;)
