Plaza Backstage
Today we went to check out some of our locations, existing and possible new ones. Including the top of the Plaza Hotel. It’s located directly in the ‘center’ of the city, which is pretty good to put up a basestation. Anyway. We entered the building, and it basically looked like a dump, as if noone had paid attention to it for ages.. But ofcourse, that only goes for the ‘backstage’ areas, since the rest of the hotel looks pretty well.
We took the ‘70-or-so-elevator to the top, and found even more crap, nicely seperated with a door from the “penthouse”. On the roof we saw the /really/ bad condition the fireescapes were in. Luckily there’s also a rope to hang yourself there, in case of an emergency.
So, a promising site due to the location and height, but very messy from the inside. Oh, and we found some antennas of some small company interfering with our equipment. Apparently their stuff can’t keep transmission within their licensed frequency. Yay paperwork & ranting. :)
